As a Banquet Server at Fairmont Palliser, you will provide warm, engaging, and luxury service to guests at events and banquets. You will set up function areas, explain menus, serve food and beverages, and ensure a positive dining experience. Reporting to the Director of Event Operations, you will be an ambassador of luxury service in Calgary's premier event venue.
Responsibilities
- Set up rooms & function areas in the hotel
- Explain the banquet menu to guests
- Assisting those with special dietary needs or preferences as well as provide suitable assistance when recommending beverages
- Clear and reset tables as well as ensuring service areas are clean and tidy
- Set up, service and tear down of bars
- Providing engaging and luxury service to our guests
- Responsible to ensure all our guests leave with a positive dining experience
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment and ensures that all Health & Safety standards are met, procedures followed and has the knowledge and tools to work safely
- Maintain awareness of and ensuring compliance with all food safety & hygiene policies and procedures are followed at all times
- Maintain awareness of and ensuring compliance with all sustainability and food waste reduction/diversion policies, procedures and programs at the hotel
- To follow all department and hotel policies, procedures and service standards
- Execute all other duties as assigned by the Director, Event Operations or their designate
Requirements
- Previous experience in events or fine dining (serving or bartending) considered an asset
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Flexible availability, with a focus on evenings and weekends
- Must be available to work on key holidays, including Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, Mother’s Day, and during Stampede, as well as other designated blackout dates throughout the year
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team, with minimal supervision
- Possesses a warm, caring, and personable demeanor
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
