As Conference & Events Assistant Manager, you will play a key leadership role in the day-to-day operation of our Conference & Events department while supporting the wider Food & Beverage team as required. You will support the Conference & Events Operations Manager in leading and coordinating conference, banquet and event operations, and lead event service teams to deliver exceptional experiences across meetings, conferences, weddings, social events and gala functions. You will act as a hands-on leader, providing guidance, support and coaching to team members, and assist with rostering, training, performance management and development. You will build strong relationships with clients, guests and internal stakeholders to ensure successful event delivery, and monitor service delivery to resolve issues proactively. You will also support food and beverage operations across the hotel, including restaurant, bar and in-room dining outlets as required.
Responsibilities
- Support the Conference & Events Operations Manager in the daily leadership and coordination of conference, banquet and event operations
- Lead event service teams to deliver exceptional experiences across meetings, conferences, weddings, social events and gala functions
- Ensure events are executed seamlessly, with a strong focus on service standards, timing and attention to detail
- Act as a hands-on leader, providing guidance, support and coaching to team members throughout service
- Assist with team rostering, training, performance management and development
- Build strong relationships with clients, guests and internal stakeholders to ensure successful event delivery
- Conduct event briefings and ensure all operational details are communicated clearly to the team
- Monitor service delivery and proactively resolve issues to ensure an exceptional guest experience
- Support food and beverage operations across the hotel, including restaurant, bar and in-room dining outlets as required
- Assist in maintaining labour, productivity and operational targets
- Uphold all food safety, workplace health and safety, and responsible service requirements
- Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture
Requirements
- Previous leadership experience within Conference & Events, Banquets, Food & Beverage or hotel operations
- Strong operational knowledge across conference, events and food & beverage environments
- A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- A hands-on leadership style and willingness to support operationally wherever required
- Sound understanding of food and beverage service standards and event execution
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with exceptional attention to detail
- A current RSA Certificate
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
