The Audio Visual Technician assists with the setup and operation of audiovisual equipment for classes, conferences, and special events. The Technician also helps the office maintain staff presence by answering the AV phone line and assisting with AV scheduling. This part-time role involves supporting classroom and event AV systems, recording requests, and assisting with lecture capture.
Responsibilities
- Assist with classroom and event support by connecting customers devices to the classroom AV systems and/or setting up PA systems in event spaces. Ensure that audio and display settings of connected devices are properly selected.
- Record AV requests received via phone and email into the office database utilizing the software application; Airtable. Ensure that details pertinent to the customer’s request are properly annotated.
- Assist staff and faculty with lecture capture employing various videoconferencing applications. Ensure that audio and display settings of connected devices are properly selected.
- Test Classroom AV systems in order isolate malfunctioning components for further troubleshooting or replacement by the Spring Valley Senior Technician. Replace defective or malfunctioning cables.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 - 3 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent customer service, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of video recording techniques, and a basic understanding of signal flow for both audio and video signals.
- Working knowledge of Mac and PC computers. Working knowledge of videoconferencing applications; primarily Zoom.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
Nice to have
- Previous AV experience or a background in audio technology or visual media.
- Familiarity with Mac and PC computers, Blu-Ray players, projection systems, PA systems, video cameras, digital audio recorders, as well as basic and advanced control systems.
