The CAD Specialist works closely with the CAD Project Manager to create accurate computer-aided design diagrams for the National Operations Division, serving clients in the audio visual industry. The role involves designing 2D and 3D floor plans, maintaining drawing standards and databases, and producing diagrams for staff, client, venue and Fire Marshal review. The specialist also provides technical support using AutoCAD and rendering software, coordinates with facilities and event staff, and represents the department professionally during site visits and shows. Strong time management and communication are essential to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and create 2D and 3D floor plans using computer-aided drafting software, maintaining PCMA and CAD Department design and drawing standards. Update current drawing database. Provide diagrams for staff, and client review, and for venue and Fire Marshal approval. Ensure that a high level of quality is maintained on all projects.
  • Utilize computer skills and knowledge of current release of AutoCAD to complete detailed room layouts. Develop 3D diagrams and renderings using software such as LD Assistant. A thorough understanding and efficiency of the CAD Department’s drafting and design standards. A strong knowledge of design, scale, and proportions to aid in the creation of the diagrams.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by establishing excellent working relationships with clients, (i.e. association representatives), company employees (i.e. Account Managers, Project Managers, Sales Managers), and all related project staff (i.e. event coordinators, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while working at a high level of efficiency under extreme deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Frequently contact facilities to speak with Event Coordinator, or another representative regarding room layouts. When attending site visits or on show site, represent Encore National Operations and the CAD Department in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • BA/BS or Associates Degree in Architectural Design or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with AutoCAD software
  • Knowledge of Audio Visual lighting and rigging criteria
  • Experience with Autodesk 3ds Max and LD Assistant
  • Strong customer services skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to manage and work on multiple projects
  • Experience with graphic design and layout software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDraw, etc.
