The Event Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue by proactively soliciting new business and cultivating relationships with clients. They manage all aspects of event sales, from initial inquiry to execution, ensuring each event meets the resort's high standards. This role involves coordinating with various departments, conducting property tours, and developing sales action plans to achieve quarterly goals.
Responsibilities
- Initiates and responds to guest inquiries and solicits new business opportunities. Actively engages with local community and all business related inquiries.
- Utilizes property and event management booking systems.
- Maintains daily and weekly communications to all departments about functions or activities within the premises or at our partner facilities.
- Works in harmony with Culinary, Facilities, Gaming, Marketing and Hotel Operations to ensure positive working relationships and to uphold the standards and expectations of our clients.
- Executes exemplary guest service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the guest and ensuring their satisfaction before, during and after their program/event.
- Serves the client by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations, while building a relationship and loyalty to Bear River Casino Resort.
- Acts as liaison with Hotel Management during customer event/program ensuring daily needs are met and overall guest satisfaction.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Schedule staff effectively, utilize on call staff as needed, interview, hire, and is responsible for ensuring Bear River Casino Resort policies and procedures are met.
- Proactively identifies, qualifies, and solicits new business opportunities.
- Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels to ensure sales efforts are coordinated.
- Prospects and qualifies all lead sources through cold calls and networking to generate new sales opportunities.
- Meets quarterly sales goals as outlined.
- Conducts property tours and site inspections for potential clients.
- Responsible for development and execution of action plans outlining sales activities on a quarterly basis.
- Uses negotiation skills and creative selling abilities to maximize revenue.
- Builds and strengthens relationships with existing guests and new clients.
- Creates client correspondence as required-sales agreements, proposals, and thank you letters.
- Provides accurate, timely, and complete turnover to property service team.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- An Associate’s Degree is preferred.
- (2) two years of equivalent experience can be substituted for each year of college. Experience must be in Hotel, Food and Beverage, Catering, Event Management, Convention Center, Entertainment Center, Golf Club, or Casino.
- Professional written and oral communication skills are required. Must be able to handwrite letters and thank you notes. Must be able to professionally communicate in a group setting. Must be able to read, understand and interpret contracts and other professional communication.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisor or manager experience is required.
- Minimum of 2 years in Catering, Food and Beverage or Hotel experience is required.
- Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
- Must provide or obtain a Food Handlers certification upon hire and maintain during employment.
- Must provide or obtain the Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification and maintain during employment.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
- Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
