The A/V Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and breakdown of audio, video, and lighting equipment for hotel events and client functions. As skills develop, the position focuses on mastering one specialty area (Audio, Video, or Lighting) while maintaining a working knowledge of all A/V disciplines. The role supports meetings, conferences, and special events at the property, working variable shifts including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Set up projectors, large screens, pipe and drape, staging, and other event equipment for meetings, conferences, and special events.
  • Install, secure, and manage audio, video, power, and network cabling as needed.
  • Climb ladders up to 16 feet and operate scissor lifts up to 20 feet to hang banners, adjust lighting, and complete event setups.
  • Safely transport, move, and position audio-visual equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Assist with the assembly and breakdown of event equipment before and after functions.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly secured, tested, and ready for client use.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 6 months of production background in any of the following: theater, sound, video, photography and or computers.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with meeting planners, trainers and corporate executives.
  • Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Prefer knowledge of PowerPoint. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Previous guest services experience.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work variable hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Familiarity with basic office equipment, including computers, printers, fax, and copy machines.
