The Stage Manager for JOYÀ, a Cirque du Soleil resident show in Mexico, acts as a link between artistic, technical, and operational teams. They call shows, manage backstage operations, and lead rehearsals, ensuring safety and artistic accuracy. They also handle administrative duties such as documentation, scheduling, and payroll support.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a link between the Artistic, Technical, and Operational Teams.
  • Collaborate in the creation of and enforce production rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Call the full show, including all contingencies and versions, safely and artistically accurate
  • Call and lead the show team through a rescue procedure, show stop, and show restart
  • Create and distribute the show report in a timely manner
  • Run the Backstage Manager track and be validated for a rescue as Backstage Manager
  • Run the Stage Management Rover track which includes being the Communications person in rescue scenarios and supporting the rest of the Stage Management team with in-show lineup changes and communication
  • Liaise between artistic and technical staff for daily rehearsals
  • Collaborate with the SM team in the scheduling, preparation and running of rehearsals and training sessions, including calling technical and aerial cues
  • Call and lead dry techs, show conditions, and dress rehearsals
  • In collaboration with the Stage Management team, create documentation for and implement emergency protocols for rehearsal settings
  • Ensure the weekly distribution of the Training Report
  • Understand and create the show’s daily lineup, including backup act and contingency lineups
  • With the collaboration of the Artistic Team, ensure that artistic documentation is maintained
  • Ensure the administrative follow-up concerning lineup and show changes within technical, performers or acts is communicated and documented
  • Support the Stage Management team in the integration of artists
  • Create and maintain operational stage management documentation
  • Collaborate with the Stage Management team to organize and archive all show documentation
  • Organize the filing of video and audio material to ensure its conservation
  • Support the Artistic Team on PR and special events
  • Support GSM in the creation and distribution of the weekly schedule
  • Work with GSM and AD to create the Artist Payroll weekly
  • Support GSM duties if he/she is out including but not limited to taking the lead in Trainings, Integrations, Weekly Show Schedule, SM Schedule, Payroll, and attending HOD meetings

Requirements

  • Show calling experience and aerial act calling experience required
  • Must have a college diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years relevant experience;
  • Fluency in English written and spoken;
  • Fluency of Microsoft Office is required;
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Spanish and/or other languages is an asset;
  • Multicultural experience an asset;
  • Experience working on various large-scale productions is a plus;
  • First Aide/CPR training an asset;
