The Events Intern will support the planning and execution of Community Action House events that engage the community, strengthen relationships with supporters, and advance the mission. Working closely with the Events Manager, the intern will coordinate event logistics, assist with volunteer engagement, and provide on-site support to create welcoming, successful events for guests, donors, volunteers, and community members. This internship offers hands-on nonprofit event management experience while developing planning, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of Community Action House events, helping ensure smooth logistics and meaningful community engagement.
  • Work closely with the Events Manager to develop event plans, troubleshoot challenges, and enhance overall event experiences.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align event goals with organizational priorities.
  • Contribute creative ideas that improve event experiences and strengthen community engagement.
  • Provide on-site event support, including event setup, registration, volunteer coordination, guest engagement, and event breakdown.
  • Help manage event inventory and maintain organized event supplies and materials.
  • Support post-event activities, including gathering participant feedback, tracking attendance, and assisting with wrap-up reports.
  • Participate in planning meetings and event preparation activities.
  • Assist with additional fundraising and community engagement initiatives as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage volunteers, staff, donors, and community members.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to support seamless event execution.
  • Access to consistent and reliable transportation to travel between locations.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

  • High School Diploma required. Some college preferred.
  • Pursuing a degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • No prior professional experience required.
  • No supervisory experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing is required

Nice to have

  • Previous experience with event planning, customer service, volunteer coordination, or related activities preferred.
  • Basic conversational Spanish proficiency preferred.
