The Digital Marketing and Events Officer will help manage the council's online and social media platforms, deciding how and when to respond, what makes good content, and how to engage different audiences. They will support large online webinars such as staff and partner briefings and help promote events to prospective attendees. Working within the Communications and Digital Services team, the role covers a wide remit across all council services, from fostering recruitment to public health and transport.
Responsibilities
- You'll be helping to manage the many online and social media platforms that the council uses to keep in touch with staff, residents and visitors, deciding how and when to respond, what makes good content and how to engage our different audiences. You'll support with large online webinars such as staff and partner briefings and help to promote events to prospective attendees.
- The Digital Marketing and Events Officer will work for the council's Communications and Digital Services team, whose work covers all council services. That means a huge remit, covering campaigns from fostering recruitment to public health via roads and transport- and a very varied job role as a result.
Requirements
- Working in a communications or marketing environment or relevant qualification. Minimum requirement of 4 or 5 GCSEs including English and maths at grade A-C or 9-4
- Supporting events and/or producing online events, virtual conferences or webcasts. Producing excellent social media content, including video
- Know digital platforms such as social media and meeting platforms inside out
- Work as part of a team – with designers, communications officers, IT professionals, and within brand guidelines and council policies. Have knowledge of Online platforms for delivering large meetings or events (e.g Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Go To Meeting). Graphic design, video/photo editing software
- Evaluate your work – understand what you need to achieve and whether you met objectives
- Research best practice and learn from trends
- Work with internal colleagues to support them in achieving their aims, and give sound advice on digital platforms

- This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.
