The Banquet Server is an essential part of the Léal experience, delivering warm, attentive, and memorable service at events across all Léal properties. They ensure every guest feels welcomed and well cared for from setup to breakdown, handling tasks such as preparing banquet tables, serving plated meals, replenishing buffets, and clearing tables. They also complete timely event setup and teardown while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests warmly with a smile and a professional greeting. Make eye contact with guests.
  • Work in the FOH and BOH kitchen areas to provide friendly hospitality to all guests
  • Communicate professionally with all FOH and BOH staff, including management
  • Safely carry plates with food on trays and serve guests while walking around the venue
  • Set up necessary service station(s) and perform assigned side work
  • Assemble food on tray or buffet from each station as necessary
  • Serve food/meals; place dishes by courses in front of each person (if applicable), following our service standards
  • Check back with guests after food is served to ensure member/guest satisfaction; replenish water, silverware, etc. as
  • Attend pre-shift meetings as requested by management
  • Remove soiled dishes and glasses, perform cleaning tasks and breakdown of service. Keep tables, coffee/beverage, and bus station areas clean at all times
  • Review the banquet event form (BEO) at the beginning of each shift to ensure knowledge of the timeline and menu for the event
  • Communicate with the catering staff regarding any special needs or requests from guests
  • Assist in ensuring that the events are running according to the event timeline
  • Maintain high standards for safety and cleanliness in all areas of the property
  • Maintain proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing items, and refilling glasses
  • Communicate any areas of need, problems, and concerns from a guest to the Event Manager
  • Protect the company, employees, and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
  • Assist other banquet servers with maintenance (side work duties) as necessary
  • Be familiar with the various types of food service – buffet, plated, family-style, etc.
  • Keep all supplies and equipment in order and stored in the designated area
  • Drive company golf carts at an appropriate speed and with caution
  • Work safely to avoid injuries and accidents, including wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Practice safe working habits and take all required rest and meal breaks in a timely manner
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Must be flexible and available to work a varying schedule to include weekends, evenings, holidays, split shifts, and extended hours as business needs dictate
  • Maintain a professional and polished appearance in adherence with the company dress code
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Food Handler Certificate
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Responsible Beverage Serving Certificate
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills required. Communicate professionally in person and on the phone
  • Must be able to use time tracking software and point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain calm in high-pressure situations
