The Event Support Specialist provides hands-on operational and logistical support for events across campus/facilities. The role is responsible for event set-up and teardown, customer service during events, equipment handling, and real-time problem solving to ensure events are executed safely, efficiently, and to the stakeholder's expectations. The position supports a wide variety of events including meetings, conferences, athletics, ceremonies, concerts, and special events.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of a wide variety of events including meetings, conferences, athletics, ceremonies, concerts, and special events.
  • Performs event set-up, room conversions, and teardown according to event diagrams and timelines.
  • Transport, set-up and maintain event equipment such as tables, chairs, staging, risers, pipe & drape, barricades, signage and tents.
  • Respond quickly to changes, issues or client request with events.
  • Model safe work practices, professionalism, and customer service expectations.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one-two years’ experience with leading others.
  • At least one-two years event management experience.
  • At least two-three years’ experience with leading others.
  • At least two-three years’ event management experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Frequently required to travel to campus locations and off campus locations.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus and buildings.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 125 or fewer pounds.
