The Events Manager is the operational lead for the Events Department at Meow Wolf Los Angeles, supporting the General Manager across public events, concerts, and private rentals of the exhibition. This role carries an event from advance through execution: advancing production for concerts and private events, helping clients understand the venue's capabilities and designing event solutions that fit their vision, and serving as the hospitality and operational anchor on the day of show to ensure every event runs smoothly. The right candidate pairs real technical production knowledge with hands-on management experience in a fast-paced ticketed environment and the hospitality instincts to bring artists, clients, and guests through a flawless event.
Responsibilities
- Complete production advances for concerts and events, including coordination of audio, lighting, video, staging, backline, power, and load-in/load-out logistics with artist teams, tour managers, and client production partners.
- Advance rental agreements and technical requirements for both the exhibition and the concert venue.
- Advance hospitality for artists and clients, including riders, green room needs, and day-of accommodations.
- Arrange all guaranteed settlements in advance.
- Work through operational and non-technical production issues for on-site and off-site events.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for prospective and confirmed event clients, translating the venue's technical, spatial, and creative capabilities into event designs that fit each client's goals and budget.
- Field inquiries for events and private rentals and guide clients from initial conversation through a fully advanced event plan.
- Work with the GM and Director of Marketing to develop and refine private rental offerings.
- Manage internal and private rentals and event vendors, and develop vendor relationships that expand what the venue can offer clients.
- Serve as manager on duty for the majority of after-hour event shifts, acting as the operational lead and primary point of contact for clients, artists, and staff during events.
- Ensure a high standard of hospitality throughout each event, anticipating artist and client needs and resolving issues before they reach the guest experience.
- Coordinate with Food & Beverage, Operations, and Security to ensure events integrate seamlessly with the broader Meow Wolf operation.
- Address on-site incidents and vendor or contractor issues as they arise.
- Schedule venue staff including production, security, box office, and housekeeping, using projected client needs and expected attendance to minimize unnecessary labor expense.
- Partner with the Senior Manager, Event Sales to identify staffing needs for upcoming events, and develop the venue staffing model and oversee procedures and staffing.
- Maintain the date/event log book and track all reimbursements, including equipment and labor.
- Maintain inventory of events non-production equipment.
- Manage contract administration, internal and external communication, and event costing with close attention to detail.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years prior experience in the live music, venue, and events industry.
- Minimum of 3 years prior experience working as a manager.
- Demonstrated ability to advance a concert or live event end to end, including working knowledge of audio, lighting, video, staging, and backline sufficient to communicate credibly with production teams, tour managers, and technical vendors.
- Prior work experience with venue-based live music, live entertainment, theatre, or related industries, including working closely with production, sound, and lighting design.
- Experience consulting with event clients on venue capabilities and designing event solutions to fit their needs.
- Strong hospitality instincts and prior experience managing artist and client relations day of show.
- Prior experience with ticketed events and/or event ticket management.
- Prior experience with accounting or expense and revenue tracking.
- Prior experience working closely with caterers, bar operations, and alcohol service.
- Prior work experience with event programming, execution, and booking.
