The Events Crew Team Leader is responsible for supporting and leading the bar team during corporate events at the National Space Centre, from set-up through service to close-down. The role involves greeting guests, serving and clearing food and drinks, supervising the Events Crew, and ensuring high standards of customer service. It is a casual, zero-hours contract position with shifts varying based on event requirements, typically starting at 5pm and running until the event ends.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet corporate guests upon arrival
  • Ensuring Event Crew abide by uniform policy
  • Leading team in set up and clear down to ensure all tasks are completed
  • Responsible for supervising and practical training of Event Crew
  • Assist efficiently with event preparation and clear down ensuring all tasks have been completed by Event Crew
  • Provide a high standard of customer service in delivering everything from arrival drinks and canapé receptions to dinner service.
  • Understand basic allergy information and where detailed product information can be found
  • Efficient delivery of food and beverage to tables.
  • Manage bar services, especially at busy times.
  • To operate tills with effective cash handling.
  • Responsible for delivering quality service and up selling the National Space Centre where appropriate
  • Dealing with general enquiries and customer service issues.
  • Assist efficiently with event preparation and clear down correctly as per the event requirements and event team’s instructions.
  • Ability to deal with last minute changes in a calm, professional manner.
  • Ensure that all health and safety procedures, including fire & evacuation and manual handling, are adhered to.
  • Maintain effective safe food hygiene practices as per food hygiene training.
  • Undertake in-house and external training as necessary.
  • Undertaking any other tasks relevant to the post as required by the Corporate Duty Manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently within a busy environment.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers, other staff members/teams plus agency staff.
  • Reliable, responsible and positive attitude towards work.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and an understanding of the needs of the customers by building rapport.
  • Communicate directly with corporate guests in a polite manner during an event.
  • Ability to comply with manual handling safety procedures.
  • Minimum 1 years experience in a team leader role
  • Minimum 2 years wait staff work experience
