The Admissions Experience & Events Coordinator is responsible for creating exceptional first impressions and meaningful experiences that support Newberry College's enrollment goals. This position sits at the center of the prospective student experience and serves as one of the most visible roles within the Office of Admissions. The individual in this role will help shape the perception students and families have of Newberry College from the moment they arrive on campus.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, manage, and execute all aspects of daily campus visits, open houses, scholarship competitions, admitted student events, counselor programs, and other recruitment initiatives from conception through post-event follow-up.
- Build upon existing successful visit and event structures while continuously identifying opportunities to create new programming, academic experiences, and innovative recruitment initiatives that strengthen student engagement and enrollment outcomes.
- Serve as the champion for the prospective student and family experience, ensuring every interaction reflects the warmth, hospitality, and professionalism of Newberry College.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve attendance, reduce no-show rates, and maximize the return on investment for all visits and events.
- Manage all event logistics including vendor coordination, promotion, scheduling, campus partnerships, and day-of execution.
- Develop, create, and manage communication plans for all visits and events within Slate, including audience strategy, message sequencing, content development, and follow-up communications. Partner with Admissions Operations for technical implementation as needed.
- Participate in recruitment outreach efforts including evening phone-a-thons, virtual engagement sessions, follow-up campaigns, and other enrollment initiatives.
- Oversee the daily front desk guest experience, including scheduling and coordinating student ambassador/front desk coverage.
- Serve as the primary back-up for front desk operations and ensure the office remains welcoming, professional, and fully operational at all times.
- Maintain responsibility for opening the admissions office each morning, ensuring the space is prepared, organized, and ready to welcome students, families, and guests beginning at 8:00 a.m.
- Serve as a back-up representative for admissions presentations, family meetings, and campus tours as needed.
- Work closely with admissions counselors, faculty, staff, and campus partners to ensure visits, events, and recruitment efforts align with enrollment goals.
- Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and a willingness to support office operations wherever needed.
- Lead by example and contribute positively to a professional, collaborative, and solutions-oriented team environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates with extensive relevant experience in event management, admissions, hospitality, customer experiences, or related fields may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 1-4 years of experience in admissions, event planning, customer experience, hospitality, higher education, or related roles.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work with a sense of urgency, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills with a passion for creating meaningful experiences for students and families.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and independently drive initiatives from idea to execution.
- Strong professional maturity, sound judgment, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Ability to build positive working relationships and contribute to a professional, collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Slate preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population of students, staff, faculty, and the public.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required by events, visits, and recruitment activities.
