Nia Centre for the Arts is seeking enthusiastic and community-minded Event Hosts to join its Events team. The Event Host is responsible for the onsite execution of approved events and rentals, including preparing event spaces, welcoming guests and clients, monitoring activities, and completing post-event close-out procedures. This frontline role ensures programs, community events, workshops, screenings, and flagship events are delivered professionally and in line with Nia Centre's operational standards. It is ideal for individuals interested in arts and culture, live events, community programming, customer service, event production, or nonprofit administration.

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup, execution, and teardown of community programs, rentals, exhibitions, screenings, workshops, and special events
  • Prepare event spaces according to approved event plans.
  • Provide exceptional front-of-house service by welcoming guests, artists, facilitators, vendors, and rental clients, while supporting registration, ticketing, audience wayfinding, and general event operations
  • Monitor onsite event operations, independently resolve routine operational matters within established procedures, and escalate client, production, facility, safety, or other non-routine issues to the assigned Event Lead (Event Manager or Manager on Duty).
  • Complete post-event wrap-up, including venue reset, inventory, and restoring spaces for future use
  • Production & Administration Support: Assist with inventory management, equipment preparation, and the organization of event materials, signage, registration lists, and other operational resources

Requirements

  • Candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and be able to lift and move event equipment (up to approximately 40 lbs).
  • Must be over 21 years of age

Nice to have

  • Standard First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • Experience supporting events, festivals, performances, or community programming
  • Experience in customer service, hospitality, front-of-house, or venue operations
  • Familiarity with event management platforms such as Eventbrite and Square
  • An interest in Black arts, culture, and community programming
