The Student Activities & Events Coordinator helps develop and implement comprehensive leadership development programs to enrich the co-curricular experience of undergraduate and graduate students. This role fosters an inclusive and vibrant campus life through student engagement and community building by creating and supporting traditional programs, large-scale campus-wide events, and club-specific events. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Student Involvement, the coordinator supports clubs and organizations, coordinates campus-wide events, and handles administrative functions such as budgeting and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Support all clubs and organizations through leadership development, attendance at club events, assistance with purchasing processes, and ongoing support for advisors and students to help create and sustain the strongest versions of their organizations.
- Develop club leadership curriculum, recruit participants, and facilitate workshops that support clubs and organizations in ensuring they complete mid-year and end-of-year reports.
- May also support ad hoc or recurring leadership development trainings for student clubs andorganizations.
- Lead and coordinate various aspects of campus-wide social, traditional, and educational programming that supports the intellectual, personal, and social development of all students.
- Represent the Center at Division of Student Life and larger university events such as Orientation, Admitted Student Day, Friends & Family Weekend, Commencement, and other university programs.
- Support the department to cultivate partnerships and ongoing collaboration with relevant campus and community stakeholders.
- Plan and implement annual events and support the creation, assessment, and continuous improvement of yearly programming.
- Work in collaboration with College Events to manage the event approval process for student-led programming.
- Schedule vendors and service providers,including catering, security, audiovisual services, College Events, and Facilities, related to areas of responsibility.
- Create reports and publications as needed, including campus-wide
- applications, website content, and other operational materials relevant to this position.
- Represent the department on Student Life, campus-wide, and departmental committees as assigned.
- Manage budgets for areas of responsibility, including purchasing, expense tracking, forecasting, and Concur submissions.
- Perform related duties as needed. Other duties as assigned that fall within the scope of this position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of relevant experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Student or professional experience in belonging, inclusion, and community-building work that demonstrates the ability to foster a sense of community.
- Demonstrated expertise in event planning and program management.
- Knowledge of data collection, assessment, and tracking, ensuring platforms and systems are maintained and utilized to support data-informed decision-making.
- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with students, campus communities, and members of the public.
- Ability to take appropriate steps to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse environment.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
