The Assistant Banquet Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of all banquet and event operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery and guest satisfaction. This role assists in supervising banquet staff, managing event setup and service, and maintaining operational efficiency across all banquet functions. The position operates within meeting and event spaces and requires extensive standing, walking, and active floor presence throughout events. Success in this role requires leadership, organization, and a commitment to delivering high-quality event experiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing banquet food and beverage service, including event setup, execution, and breakdown.
- Ensure all banquet functions are executed according to client specifications and hotel standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of all front and back of house banquet areas.
- Support seamless events by coordinating with culinary, service, and setup teams.
- Supervise banquet staff during events to ensure high performance and service standards.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training banquet team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support disciplinary processes as needed.
- Model and reinforce professional guest service techniques and company standards.
- Communicate effectively with guests, meeting planners, and internal teams to ensure successful event execution.
- Address guest concerns, special requests, and service recovery situations promptly and professionally.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients to support repeat business and satisfaction.
- Assist in managing departmental budgets, controlling expenses, and supporting financial objectives.
- Support preparation and tracking of purchase orders and operational expenditures.
- Maintain accurate client billing systems and event records.
- Assist in forecasting business activity levels, including 90-day projections.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment on event logistics and guest experience.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and service standards consistently.
- Support capital equipment and facility oversight for banquet and conference areas.
- Ensure staffing levels are aligned with business demands and budget guidelines.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in banquet operations, including Captain or Assistant Manager roles required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to manage budgets and control departmental expenditures
- Knowledge of banquet operations, food and beverage service, and event coordination
