The Operations Supervisor supports daily and event operations for Transportation Services at Penn State, serving as the primary operational decision-maker during assigned shifts. This role manages staffing resources, directs field operations, coordinates parking facilities, and ensures service excellence across parking decks, visitor operations, enforcement activities, and events. The supervisor maintains responsibility for safe, efficient, and professional delivery of parking and transportation services while exercising independent judgment and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Transportation Services is seeking a Operation Supervisor to support Event Operations for Transportation Services. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supporting daily and event operations and other field activities withing Transportation Services. This position serves as the primary operational decision-maker during assigned shifts and is empowered to resolve customer concerns, manage staffing resources, direct field operations, coordinate parking facilities, and ensure service excellence across parking decks, visitor operations, enforcement activities, and events.
- The supervisor maintains responsibility for the safe, efficient, and professional delivery of parking and transportation services while exercising independent judgment in operational matters. The role requires strong leadership, customer service expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make timely decisions with minimal management intervention. Supervisors are expected to support organizational goals by developing staff, maintaining operational continuity, enforcing policies and procedures, and fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Associate Degree 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None
- Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
