The Events Lead supervises staff during events, distributes and collects money banks, and relieves staff for breaks. They provide excellent customer service, enforce facility policies, set up and take down equipment, and assist with daily operations. The role involves training new employees, managing cash reconciliation, and ensuring health and safety standards are followed at the Davis Center at the Harlem Meer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous and friendly service to all guests and staff
  • Enforce facility policies and procedures
  • Have general knowledge regarding program options and facility events
  • Setup and take down of equipment
  • Keep supervisor informed of issues and updates
  • Respond to all incidents, accidents, injuries, and altercations
  • Complete and file corresponding paperwork as necessary
  • Assist with daily maintenance and upkeep of department equipment inventory
  • Assist Operations Manager and Coordinators in day-to-day operations, event set and breakdown
  • Supervise, manage breaks, and assign duties to event staff during shifts
  • Provide customer service and manage complaints, direct to appropriate manager to resolve
  • Train and coach new employees
  • Inspect equipment and communicate the need for repairs or replacements to management
  • Ensure health and safety standards are followed
  • Foster and maintain a positive work environment
  • Responsible for golf cart and Toro sign in and sign out
  • Perform basic mathematical computations, balance drawers, and manage daily income
  • Reconcile cash boxes per proper procedure
  • Complete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as directed by management

Requirements

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of ages from preschool through adult
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours) and regular attendance is necessary
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Must have excellent guest service skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in difficult and stressful situations
