As a Specialist in Event Production at United Way for Southeastern Michigan, you will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of nonprofit events focused on human services. On a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate with various teams to develop event concepts, manage logistics, and oversee production to ensure smooth operations. Your schedule will primarily fall within core hours, Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, but be prepared for extensive regional travel and occasional evenings and weekends for events. Emphasizing a customer-centric approach, you will continually problem-solve and innovate to elevate fundraising initiatives and corporate events.

Frequently, your evenings and weekends may be occupied by events, requiring flexibility and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.

Requirements

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are crucial, as you will engage with various stakeholders and must enjoy working with people in collaborative group settings.
  • A cultural sensitivity and the ability to engage diverse populations will enhance your effectiveness in this role. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, community engagement, human services, or a related field is preferred. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of experience in event support or management is necessary, along with reliable transportation and a willingness to travel as needed.
